The Bookdiva has me thinking about Fantasy Camp.
In her blog, she revealed 10 places she would like to visit while learning something new -- Flamenco lessons in Spain, Italian in Italy, etc. I followed her inspiration and came up with fantasies of my own. But mine are surprisingly homespun -- most of them don’t take me anywhere -- and some of them are actually doable with the right mix of luck and cojones.
On that note, consider yourself “tagged” and dream up your own fantasies. We’re not talking fantasies like “world peace” or “I want to fly.” We’re talking fantasies that could actually, possibly -- with a lot of money, luck and inspiration -- come to life. The kind of fantasies that hurt a little bit because some of them could possibly come true if only we were a little bit braver.
I only came up with seven because:
a) That’s as far as the inspiration took me.
b) I’ve run out of time and have to: work / wash dishes / change a diaper / wash the clothes / vacuum / cook dinner / wash the dishes / clean the litter box / ...
c) I left out all the sexual ones.
;)
Here we go:
1. I’d like to drive a motorcycle -- not just through Europe (which would be sweet), but also to get milk at the grocery store. Add to that, I want to be a photographer who drives a motorcycle and drives around town taking pictures of construction sites. (I don’t know why, but I have a thing for construction sites.)
2. I’d like to write about...something... and go on a book tour to talk about...the something. I know -- pretty vague. I’ll work on clarifying.
3. I’d like a tattoo, right on my forearm, where everyone can see it. Nothing big and over-the-top -- just something small and meaningful. This isn’t an attempt to be trendy. I’m 37 years old and well beyond “trendy”. But I’ve always wanted a tattoo. A few weeks ago, we bought some really terrific temporary tattoos from Berkeley for Elizabeth and I placed a very realistic-looking, small bird on my forearm. I was sad when it finally washed away.
4. I’d like to spend more time in nature. I want to snorkel in Maui whenever I please, go rock-climbing in the desert, and drive four-wheelers in the country.
5. I’d like to become a dancer like Cyd Charisse. More than that, I want to produce and star in a musical where I get to perform scenes from all my favorite musicals.
6. I’d like to go roller skating (in a rink) at least once a month where my friend Paula DJs and plays only music we want to hear. Scratch that -- I want to OWN a roller-skating rink where we always play music we want to hear. On Fridays and Saturdays, we’d have “skate-performers” who put on some sort of burlesque-skating number 1-2 times a night for entertainment. We’re not talking Disney -- we’re talking Moulin Rouge. I want it to be a “scene”. (Keep in mind, I was only eight or nine years old when roller skating was a scene in the 70’s, so I missed out.)
7. I’d like to paint something big -- like a wall or a building. I’m not sure what, but I’m leaning towards a portrait of some kind.
See -- nothing too crazy. The “worst” of them involves some sort of physical risk, which I am loathe to take because of my girls. Nevertheless, it’s a bit weird to think that right now, this very moment, someone out there is living my fantasies.
Who’s living your fantasies?
